From Gaitonde to Godman — Nawaz takes on a character so bold, it’s already banned in 2 states!
Mumbai | April 11, 2025 — Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the man who brought dark charisma to Ganesh Gaitonde in Sacred Games, is about to shake up Indian cinema again. His next film, tentatively titled Tantra, has already been served notice by two state boards — and it hasn’t even released a teaser yet!
In Tantra, Nawaz plays a character inspired by a real-life spiritual leader who was accused of black magic, political manipulation, and murder. The film doesn’t shy away from the controversies — instead, it dives headfirst into India’s obsession with blind faith and charisma cults.
The trailer was supposed to drop next week, but legal threats have forced the team to “rework key scenes.” Inside sources say Nawaz has shot a 13-minute monologue in one take that is “more powerful than anything seen in Bollywood in 10 years.”

What’s Driving the Buzz:
- Nawaz studied with real Tantrics in Varanasi for role prep.
- Censor board is in a frenzy: “Too real, too raw.”
- Political parties are already calling for a ban.
